Celebrating our Centenary

Our Centenary year was 2006 and it was most enjoyable. It was full of fun and serious golfing events and social activities. The club organised a full programme of Centenary Open Competitions and a special Centenary Golf week in the first week in August. This began with a back-in-time competition where the original 9 hole course was played to the culmination of the week with the presentation of the Centenary Trophies and a dance. The Centenary Ball held at Leighton Hall on Saturday 23rd September 2006 and was attended by our Club Patron, Gary Wolstenholme and EGU representative Mr Norman Forrest. Silverdale Golf Club was formally presented with the EGU’s commemorative plate which is awarded to clubs affliated to the EGU on reaching their 100th birthday.

A final golf competition to round off our Centenary year took place on Saturday 7th April 2007, 100 years after the first inaugural competition on 6th April 1907. We indeed did celebrate our Centenary in style.
