Corporate Day - Friday 6th June
The day was warm sunny and with the gentlest of breezes and on a course in tiptop condition when a team from Lakeland Timber Frame took on a full field of other teams and won convincingly with 91 stableford points. The photo shows the team of Keith Cordukes, Stephen Ainsworth, Jonothan Beattie and Paul Aspey with club captain David Pike receiving their prize. Teams from R E Salt, Butler’s Arms, Cousins Golf and Ian Gillespie Garden Machinery on a ‘card play off’ were the next winners all scoring 83 points.
It was good to see an all ladies team representing The Yorkshire Bank. Other ladies played for teams from Cumbria Care Services and Cousins Golf.
Captain’s Day - Saturday 21st June
What a Captain’s Day and supposedly the longest day!! The early birds who started at 09.00 certainly caught the best of the weather. Others of us who went out at noon definiteley played in the most atrocious weather; it was blowing a hooly and it rained!!. Yet the scores were fantastic. The winner of the Captain’s Day Trophy and off white tees was Neil Entwistle with 43 stableford points. Because of the weather, the ladies competition was reduced to 14 holes and our junior girl member Samantha Edwards (aged 12) beat a field of 28 ladies with 31 stableford points. The senior ladies’ competition over 9 holes was won by Kath Scobling with 16 points.
The evening with buffet and prize presentation went well and afterwards we danced to ‘Leather & Lace’.
