Our Thirteenth Hole

The 13th at Silverdale Golf Club is our signature hole. It is only a 305 yard par 4, but was made famous when it was listed in the book "Britain's 100 Extraordinary Golf Holes". We occasionally get visitors who just want the experience of playing it! The book says "its reasonably plain sailing from the tee across a valley - but even with the best drive ..it is impossible to avoid the 25ft high wall of limestone that has to be overcome to reach the green.."

But, what do our members say? - Here are a few of their comments:

"Two demanding shots required. One, a drive of 180 yards carry online with the X marker, followed by an accurate short iron to the pin"

"Accuracy and confidence required. The rewards are great if you succeed"

"A good line from the tee is a bit further left than you might think. Anything a little to the right and not struck well and you will be blocked out by the trees with no chance of a shot to the green"

"Many years ago when the course was only 9 holes, I was playing in a four ball one Saturday afternoon and on the first 9 I holed my second shot for a two, I repeated the exact score on the second 9 holes too. So scored two twos on the bell hole in the same round - I'd be happy with a par now"

If you want to take on the challenge of playing our 13th, why not book a round?
