Introducing our new Captains..

Our new Captain is Peter Baines. He joined Silverdale Golf club in 2013 when he and his wife Margaret moved to Silverdale from Broughton near Preston. Silverdale is the first golf club he has been a member of and currently has a handicap of 26. He hopes for a further handicap reduction during his year as Captain. Peter and Margaret have been married for 34 years , have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Peter keeps busy looking after Slackwood Farm and as well as golf, he loves cars. Peter's chosen charity is Pancreatic Cancer UK as his daughter has been affected by it recently. Peter feels most privileged to be this year’s Captain and looks forward to getting to know more members of the club during his year of office.

Gwynneth Lindley-Jones is our new Lady Captain. She returned to live in the UK in 2010 after living in the Isle of Man for almost twenty three years. She used to live in Silverdale and Arnside previously so it seemed quite natural to "come home".

She is a retired Science Teacher and maintains her interest in the subject along with geology and photography.

She has twin daughters and a son with a total of seven grandchildren.

Gwynneth’s chosen charity is the Multiple Sclerosis Society as both her daughter and nephew have this debilitating incurable disease. More research is needed to understand why it happens and to find a cure.

Gwynneth hopes to raise more awareness and funding to assist this worthwhile charity.
