Silverdale Low-Handicappers

At Silverdale Golf Club we mostly play for our Medals and Trophies on Sundays. This means we have a very busy program throughout the summer. However, being a smaller Club, it’s normally easy to find an empty tee slot.

Last year we introduced 9-hole stablefords on Wednesdays. These were handicap-qualifying and proved to be popular.

Our elite golfers can represent the Club by playing in the Lunesdale League and its associated trophies. The Lunesdale League Trophy is competed for by Lancaster, Heysham, Morecambe, Lansil, Kirkby Lonsdale, Grange-over-Sands and ourselves. Recently we have won the Trophy in 2017 (top photo) and 2018 (bottom photo).

One good way to start any week-end would be to play 11 holes on a Friday evening, right? Well you can do that at Silverdale. We have a “Bottle Comp” on Friday evenings during the summer. This is an 11-hole stableford competition with prizes. Even if you don’t play well, you can always win the bottle in the raffle!

Golf doesn’t stop for the winter at Silverdale as we have a well-supported Winter League. You have to have your name down by 4 pm on a Saturday when the random draw is done. The competitions are very varied with all sorts of team formats imaginable played on Sunday mornings. The Winter League has its own page on the Club website (see “Winter League” under the “Members” tab) and a closed group on Facebook (currently 50 members).

As well as the above there are numerous roll-ups and groups arranging all sorts of golfing trips. We have a Pro, a well-stocked shop and a fully equipped Golf Studio. Low handicappers should come to our friendly Club, we have lots to offer!
