Joint Captains' Day Report

Joint Captains Day. We thought the weather was going to ruin our Joint Captains Day but overall we got away with it and we both thoroughly enjoyed our day. Very changeable weather, after two of the most severe downpours a number of golfers walked in ! Jean and I would like to thank all the members who turned out yesterday to support our day and our charities, St Johns Hospice and Air Ambulance, North West. With your donations, including the target chipping we raised £571 to go toward our annual fund raising. One of the huge positives of the day was having our new caterers providing bacon butties and chocolate brownies and of course meeting Gemma and Scott.

We also wanted to say a special thanks to our green keepers Mark, Tom and Graham for preparing the course and greens in super condition on Saturday. Also thank you for doing the target golf chipping green, cheers guys !

We must thank David and Edwina for their huge support yesterday and I must thank my wife Jan for joining me and making sure all received refreshments allowing me to run the target chipping ! The scoring target was small, even for the best golfers ! For a long time 150 was the leading total score, by Dave Gardiner and John Waugh, who holed his first ball, another ace. Later Phil Mash equalled the score and Stuart Foulds went better with 175 but our winner was Ian Rigg with a 225. Ian wins a Friday night meal for two at the Club with a bottle of wine. We will find out the winners of the Stableford Secret Partner comp after the official results are published. A huge thanks again to all who made yesterday a great day for Jean and I.
