Meet Our 2021 Captains

Our Captain for 2021 is Andy Schofield. He was born & bred in East Kilbride & moved to Carnforth for work in 2001 where he met his wife Jo & stepchildren Stephen & Rachael. He has worked in the travel industry for 20 years and is fortunate that his job has taken him to many parts of the world.

His love of golf started in childhood when he regularly played a round or 2 with his Dad and Grandad. When he moved here, he decided to take up golf again & joined Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club . In 2013 he joined Silverdale Golf Club and loved it. He has made many friends at the Club and now has a handicap of 7.

His aim this year is to continue to promote the benefits of Silverdale Golf Club membership for all abilities. One of these is the Mentor Programme, which helps new members integrate into the SGC community and get the most out of their membership whether they are beginners or experienced players.

His charity is St John’s Hospice. It is a local charity and this year it celebrates its 35th Birthday. Due to the pandemic their fund-raising efforts have suffered greatly, so this year, more than ever, they need all the help they can get. His Charity Bunker is on the 2nd hole, so if you visit it don’t forget to place 50p in the charity box.

Andy Says “If you see me around the course come & say hello”.

Kath Foulds is our Lady Captain for 2021. Married to Stuart, he eventually persuaded her to take up golf in 2013. She has regretted not having started sooner as golf has now become her main hobby. Starting at Casterton she came to Silverdale in 2017, finding it a very friendly club but also a challenging course.

She has 3 daughters and a son and 6 grandchildren. Kath is a retired Assistant Head of a large Secondary School where she taught Maths and Computer Science.

Her chosen Charity is Motor Neurone Disease as she has seen at first hand the effects of this dreadful disease. Much more research needs to be done to prevent and treat MND.

Kath’s aim during her year as Lady Captain is to work, in particular, with our wonderful group of Ladies not only to promote their health and well-being by playing golf but also together to encourage new members to do the same. The Ladies make a very good team, they will promote and support the club and each other in many different ways.

Our successful partnership with Chefs Catering is also very important to Kath, she intends to continue to work closely with them and support them in any way that she can. Their success will bring great benefits to our club.
