We had all the ingredients for some good scoring for our Texas Scramble Open - good weather, a course in superb condition and handicaps worked out using the new World Handicapping System guidelines. The scoring was indeed excellent and, as you will see, very tight at the top. On Tuesday 25 May, 13 teams of lady golfers from all over Lancashire and South Cumbria competed for the Westmorland and NorthWest Lancashire Interclub Shield at Silverdale Golf Club. We are happy to announce that Silverdale were victorious. Our team of Sandy Armistead, Lynn Penswick, Carol Whalley, Sarah Bracewell, Carol McKendrick, Marie Motch and Bev Tabor won the shield. After a card play-off (with our Sandy Armistead), Lynn Penswick also won the best net individual prize.
Its time to tell you about our Golf Festival Week. It all starts on Tuesday 6 July with a Seniors (55+) 4BBB Open. On the Wednesday we have a Ladies (team of 3, 2 to score) Open. We have a Texas Scramble (any gender) Open on the Thursday. Finally we end the week with 2 Am-Am (any gender) Opens. Friday is teams of 4, 2 to count and Saturday is teams of 4, 3 to count. At last some good news, our clubhouse is now fully open and you can go inside to eat and drink in comfort. We are Covid-19 compliant to ensure our customers' safety.
